 the greatest boogie-woogie piano player, a very talented writer, james's old partying and music friend, one of the most gifted humans on this planet, a funny witty ribald man, has died.

i thought i would write and reminisce about him, my experiences with him (mostly writing), but i'm just too, too sad. will play piano each and every day now... because gene sure did that.

so much more to tell about recent close calls, friends' recent close calls, weather here & in texas, selfish texas politics that led to this & other deaths... too blue. goodbye, eugene. i pray it was painless at the end, that you were shrouded in warm blankets, that you just slipped away, as sister angie suggested.
